Found: South African Candice Hillebrand at the Top of Maxim Online’s List of Hot Girls

It feels like freaky Friday.

Earlier today, we stumbled upon this post written by fellow South African blogger Coda. At the beginning of this month, some unmentioned compulsion (and who knows what else) drove him to turn into a sleuth and to track down South African model/actress/singer Candice Hillebrand.

Seriously though, dude, we think it’s great that the adage “out of sight, out of mind” doesn’t apply to bikini-clad blondes.

Anyway, Coda’s detective work paid off… He found her MySpace page and the reason why she has all but disappeared from the South African media for a while: She has undergone a subtle name change and is now seeking her fame and fortune as a songstress in… where else? California.

Coda even accurately pointed out that, if the music gig doesn’t pan out for her, she could always make a living as a Paris Hilton lookalike. We agree. We’re sure that with a bit of practice, Candy would even be able to emulate Paris’ lazy eye.

After we clicked on the MySpace link, we were suitably punished for our curiosity with an audible assault by her rather lacklustre single (be forewarned: it starts up at full blast when her MySpace page launches), performed with a slack-jawed American drawl (wouldn’t you know that she is now the luckiest girrrrl in the worrrrld?). Then we washed out our ears, moved on and thought that was that.

Until her name at Maxim Online caught our eye a while ago. Ms. Hillebrand has the dubious honour of being in the Number One spot of their Top Girls list, just above the American Idol Twins, the Hometown Hotties, the NFL Cheerleaders and Gameshow Goddesses.

And now suddenly, Candice Hillebrand seems to literally pop up EVERYWHERE in our browser.
