Mandoza could be grounded

South African kwaito star Mandoza was (allegedly) a naughty boy over the weekend and now he might pay for it by being forced to cancel a tour to Australia to perform there.

Mandoza, whose real name is Mduduzi Tshabalala, appeared at the Randburg magistrate’s court on Tuesday on charges of assaulting Glen Nonkonyana in a Randburg nightclub on Saturday night.

When David Moerane, Mandoza’s lawyer, asked magistrate Alfie du Plooy to postpone the case because Mandoza would be away on business, the magistrate replied: “I did not assault anybody. Why is it my problem?”  And so he postponed the case to March 19.

Mandoza’s wife, Mpho, was furious and said: “It’s a fashion for everybody to discredit musicians and famous people.”

Right, Mpho. We completely agree. Doesn’t that silly magistrate’s court judge know that celebrities are Higher Beings who have the right to do whatever they please, whenever they please, to whomever they please?
