South Africa’s own Dancing with the Stars is back

Strictly come Dancing, the SABC’s shameless rip-off of American ‘reality’ television show Dancing with the Stars, is making a reappearance tonight on SABC2.

Once again, we can be prepared to be blinded by sequenced-to-death, over the top fashions. But if you seriously doubt that dance costumes can’t get much more kitsch than they already are, don’t bet on it. Why are we so sure? Two words: Patricia Lewis.

The Barbie-wannabe lookalike entertainer and presenter of Supersterre is one of the female contestants, and we might actually endure the show just to see what she’ll come up with to wear. This woman has the incredible ability to take cheap to a whole new low.

The SABC must’ve struggled to come up with celebrities to compete on the show, because in the end, they sourced quite a few of their other presenters to make up the quota. Patricia will be joined by Eastern Mosaic presenter Candice Moodley, as well as 50/50 host Erald Felix.

The chest of Wonderbra model Lieschen Botes will also be filling out some of the dance costumes on the show. Somehow we doubt that the heterosexual male judges on the show will be paying a lot of attention to her fancy footwork…
