Cowabunga! Roxy to the rescue

She has made quite a splash as a professional surfer.

Now South African pro surfer-turned-model Roxy Louw can also add ‘-turned-amateur-sea-rescuer’ to her array of titles.

While hanging out on her balcony yesterday afternoon, Roxy suddenly saw people struggling in the water. “I thought it was a whale. I jumped into my wetsuit and ran. I got quite a fright when I saw the people.”

We wish we could say that she proceeded to swoop in on her surfboard for the rescue operation, but she merely ran down to Clifton’s 2nd Beach and into the water where she and some other people (including two lifesavers) proceeded to help the people get to safely to the shore.
The five passengers had been on a boat tour around Robben Island when the boat’s engine stalled and began sinking.

Well done, Roxy! Maybe this should prompt some of your local model colleagues (like Minki, etc.) to donate blood or something, and not just try and get pictures of their pretty faces in the society pages!
