South African Idols winner’s attempted coverup

It was between a sultry-voiced 21-year old blonde and a 17-year old brunette still in high school… and youth beat out experience, much to our personal dismay.

Jody Williams, a high school girl from Milnerton beat out fellow Capetonian and beauty therapist AndriĆ«tte Norman to become South Africa’s fourth Idols winner last night in Johannesburg.

The high note of the evening for many viewers came when Jody, during her debut performance as winner, experienced a wardrobe malfunction… Let’s just say her love for wearing strapless tops finally caught up with her last night. No boobage was flashed. Just one full bra cup. Jody clearly knew it was happening, because she kept on pulling up her top… on the wrong side though. Finally she covered up all demurely and proceeded to sing with her arms pressed to her sides as if she was a cadet ordered to stand at full attention.

But what amazed us even more than an actual wardrobe malfunction (even though it was a pretty weak one, as far as wardrobe malfunctions go), was to hear that the amount of people who voted for their favourite Idols far outnumbered the amount of people who voted in 2004, during South Africa’s last presidential election!

As entertainment bloggers, it warms our hearts that South Africans clearly have their priorities straight…

We were more surprised that none of the backstage crew came out to help her…

Jody is a good friend of mine and i think its very unfair to judge her based upon her age. that girl is so down to earth and has such a passion for singing- she is going to work her backside off to gain that experience. she hasnt even become famous yet and already people have bad things to say about her…give her a chance and she is going to knock everyones socks off.

I have been watching her performance and applaud her for her bravery, cool and respectful attitudes. She has a great heart, at such a young age! She listened to the judges advices and improved dramatically. Nevermind negative comments, nobody is perfect! You are a star!!! Good luck for the future.
