From Stripping to Scripting

This story gives us a tremendous urge to head to Teazers and rip off our clothes.

A former stripper who blogged about her dancing exploits has struck gold… the first screenplay she ever wrote was not only made into a film, but the movie, Juno, is receiving widespread rave reviews and Oscar buzz.

Brook Busey-Hunt, alias Diablo Cody, graduated in media studies and did some secretarial and proof-reading jobs before entering an amateur stripping contest on a whim. She enjoyed the experience so much that she quit her day job and became a professional stripper. She started a blog, Pussyranch, and blogged in graphic detail and with great humour about her exploits in the industry. One day a talent manager, Mason Novick, stumpled upon her blog during an Internet search, and after convincing her that he was for real, he convinced her to write a best-selling memoir, Candy Girl: A Year In The Life Of An Unlikely Stripper.

According to reports, while the book was in the pipeline, Novick persuaded her to come up with a screenplay, which resulted in a draft for Juno and a subsequent movie deal.

“Cody’s talent has already secured a further project, a horror-comedy titled Jennifer’s Body, while Steven Spielberg has tapped her to pen a television comedy, United States Of Tara, about a woman with a personality disorder.”

Somehow we don’t think that Brook/Cody will be stripping again any time soon…
